Package Costs Per Person

(includes taxes)

You have a choice of two "Educated Fisherman" packages based upon how you want to fish. One is for the person who is primarily interested in spin or bait casting tackle. While fly fishermen are welcome, this class will focus primarily on using lures and baits, and fishing from powerboats. This trip culminates in an all day saltwater halibut trip in Cook Inlet. Costs include classroom instruction, guided fishing trips, lodging and meals. See the Accomodations page for details. See class curriculum for full schedule. Students have the option of taking the course for credit or non-credit. There is no additional tuition charge to take the course for credit, but it is necessary to fill out an enrollment form upon arrival.

Kenai Fishing Academy® Minimum age limit

The Kenai Fishing Academy® has a minimum age limit. Enrollees must be at least 18 years of age by the time the class meets. The primary reason for our policy is that adults who are attending the Kenai Fishing Academy® expect to be taking our class with other adults and not children under 18. One parent’s idea of maturity and capability can differ markedly from how other adults may view the child. Thank you for your understanding.

Reservations, Payments and Questions

To make your reservations, call Kenai Peninsula College at (907) 262-0300, and ask for the Kenai Fishing Academy®. If you have any questions about KFA, you can also email us at kfa@uaa.alaska.edu. Reservations and payment should be made as far in advance as possible as these classes fill fast. A 50% deposit is required to confirm reservations and can be paid by check, VISA or MasterCard. Balance is due 30 days prior to arrival. If payment is made by check, the reservation still must be guaranteed with a VISA or MasterCard.

Cancellations

Trip deposits are non-refundable unless the canceling party finds someone to take their reserved spot. Partial refunds are not given for any reason including early departure, late arrival, illness or weather-related causes. Trips are made regardless of the weather so come prepared. We recommend students purchase travel insurance from a reputable company.
